Our Client’s Enterprise Application Services team provides critical enabling technology solutions to support their corporate mission to redefine healthcare management through improved quality and efficient delivery of care. They are looking to add a Product Owner to their multifunctional Scrum team.
This is a 6mo+ contract position (contract to hire is possible), based in Ontario, Calif. (Working remotely until business office operations can resume).
Overview:
As a Product Owner, you will be part of a fast-paced multifunctional Scrum team working to continuously refine and expand an innovative software product portfolio that offers a broad range of management services to healthcare providers.

Qualified candidates will have experience closely collaborating with end-users, clients, Product Owners, developers, designers, and stakeholders at all levels of the business to ensure that detailed software designs and requirements meet the needs of internal and external users.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive the realization of high-value capabilities for specific products
- Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog, including definition of features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Serve as the “voice of the user” to the delivery team by representing the user’s perspective throughout the product realization cycle
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, business systems analysts, developers, testers and others to develop and execute against product roadmaps and release plans
- Continuously and transparently interact with internal business stakeholders to prioritize the product backlog and communicate the status of development efforts via product demos, release plans, and other means
- Define, prioritize, and drive realization of a specific product vision
- Act as the subject matter expert for assigned products
- Break down epics into features and stories that are consumable and testable by a delivery team
Collaborate with user experience (UX) professionals in usability testing and the development of the user interface - Assess and prioritize the impact of defects, including providing key input on the decisions to fix or defer Review, accept, and prioritize feedback and new requirements from product stakeholders
- Ensure that Scrum team deliverables meet agreed upon standards for quality and non-functional requirements, and that the product meets the stated business need
- Review output of development to ensure specified acceptance criteria have been met
- Work with technical writers to generate user documentation
- Assist customer support teams, and develop and implement training and communication materials that allow customers to understand the product and changes made to it
Requirements:
- Four-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with a range of business areas related to healthcare delivery, specifically Medical Management – Case Management, Prior Authorizations, Quality Improvement Registry Reporting and Grievances.
- Minimum 3 years working as a Product Owner, Business Systems Analyst, or other relevant role in a digital product delivery environment
- Experience working as a Product Owner in an Agile software development environment with a track record of delivering multiple successful products to production is highly preferred
- Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or similar certification a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Diplomatic with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Relatable public speaker with effective presentation skills
- Capable of accurately translating business requirements into user stories that are readily understandable by technical delivery teams
- Proficiency with work item and defect tracking management systems (e.g., Team Foundation Server, Azure DevOps, Jira, Rally, etc.)
- Proficiency with Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Engaged learner with the ability to quickly absorb and understand complex information
- Strong attention to detail and track record of producing quality work
- Team player with a great work ethic
- Comfortable pushing management and delivery teams to decisions, and willing to push back for information and answers
- Ability to quickly identify and communicate product delivery risks
- Self-motivated and able to perform without significant supervision
